How Sharing and Distribution Works Today in Moments Lab

Moments Lab already makes media distribution easy by allowing organizations to offer a self-serve experience to their closest production partners and collaborators. Media teams simply create external organizations and user accounts with controlled permissions. These users can browse media effortlessly from anywhere using Moments Lab’s intuitive search and user interface, and download the files accessible to them at any time, without constant requests coming in to the media manager. 

This setup works perfectly for frequent collaborators. But what about those one-off requests?

Before, sharing with one-off and occasional users was only possible in the following ways:

1. Create a new organization and user account – a time-consuming process for a one-time download.

2. Manually share via third-party tools – find the media, export, download, reupload to a platform like WeTransfer or Dropbox… and repeat.

3. Create a sharing link to a cart containing multiple media files, however the cart export time when multiple media files were generated was not the quickest. 

All these options were less than ideal.

That’s why we’ve introduced two major improvements

• The ability to generate public sharing links for any media file hosted on your Moments Lab platform, from your Moments Lab platform.
• Faster cart export times.

Generate public URLs for media files 

Internal users can now generate a public link from any media file stored on your Moments Lab Video Discovery platform. 

Set expiration dates for time-sensitive content

Want to share content for a limited time only? Set an expiration date so the link automatically stops working after a set period. No more worrying about old versions floating around or content being accessible indefinitely.

View all links currently shared

You can get a general overview of all the media files that you are currently sharing by using the filter from your results page. 

Revoke access anytime

Shared the wrong file? Need to cut access early? Instantly disable a link with one click, ensuring only the right people have access to your media at the right time.

Improved cart export times

Cart export times are now up to 5x faster, making it quicker to share a collection of moments externally. When sharing multiple files, you can search for your content and add clips to your cart before generating a shareable link. You can also select the file format before sharing, giving you more control over how your media is delivered.
